PHIL learnt the guitar at a very early age and has played a variety of styles of music, including Reggae, Blues, Rock, Folk, Celtic, Pop and Musical Theatre, so Soul Summit completes the set! He says amongst many influences David Gilmour, Steve "The Colonel" Cropper and Eric Clapton are at the front. As well as the lead/rhythm guitarist He is the second vocalist within the band and likes nothing better than to go off on a guitar solo, in a world of his own.
PETE has been playing bass since he left school - which is more years than he cares to remember! His influences are the great bass players of the early Stax and Motown era - Donald "Duck" Dunn, James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt - and Led Zeppelins John Paul Jones. As the founding Member of Soul Summit He Likes nothing better than to see the audience up dancing and having a good time.
STEVE has spent his life outside of work involved in music. Prior to moving to Lincolnshire, He had played piano/keyboards with several bands in and around the south-east and has now been with Soul Summit for the past 4 years which makes him, after Pete, the longest serving member and has enjoyed discovering some great Soul music that he had somehow missed out on first time round. He has enjoyed playing, performing and listening to music all his life and has influences that cover the whole musical spectrum from Booker T Jones, Little Richard, Billy Preston Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray charles to name just a few.
MARTIN first sang with a 60's soul covers band until his late teens, then with various bands playing Funk, Soul, Blues and Rock and as a backing singer with two studios whilst as a singer/songwriter on the London circuit. Some of His many influences have been Otis Redding, Steve Marriott, Steve Winwood, Sam Moore & Dave Prater (Sam & Dave), Roger Daltry, Paul Rogers and David Bowie). He is now at his happiest as the front man for Soul Summit marking a full return to his musical roots.
