PHIL learnt the guitar at a very early age and has played a variety of styles of music, including Reggae, Blues, Rock, Folk, Celtic, Pop and Musical Theatre, so Soul Summit completes the set! Has been known to sing a bit, and likes nothing better than to go off on a guitar solo, in a world of his own.
PETE has been playing bass since he left school - which is more years than he cares to remember! His influences are the great bass players of the early Stax and Motown era - Donald "Duck" Dunn, James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt - and Led Zeppelins John Paul Jones. As the founding Member of Soul Summit He Likes nothing better than to see the audience up dancing and having a good time.
STEVE has spent his life outside of work involved in music, mostly singing in various choirs and acting as Assistant Musical Director to a Male Voice Choir in Surrey. Before moving to Lincolnshire he played keyboards for 5 years in a R&B and Rock band on the London circuit. He is after Pete, the longest serving member of Soul Summit and has relished the challenge of learning the new material that makes up the bands repertoire.
MARTIN started singing with a 60's soul covers band until his late teens, then with various bands playing funk, soul, blues and rock and as a backing singer with two studios whilst as a singer/songwriter on the London circuit. Some of His many influences have been Otis Redding, Steve Winwood, Roger Daltry, Paul Rogers and David Bowie He is now happiest as the front man for Soul Summit marking a full return to his musical roots.
JOHN Started playing the drums at the age of 6. and turned professional from 14. He has played a wide variety of styles with many different bands including blues,jazz,rock.funk and soul, now enjoying the sound made by Soul Summit. Past bands have included Chants,Quest,Working Party,Pete Donaldson Blues Band,Lurch and Taras Secret. John has also Spent time doing session/studio work and recorded albums,most recently Vertigo (Taras Secret). His Musical influences range from classical to heavy rock. Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Toto, James Brown,Foo Fighters and Sterophonics to name just a few favourites. John says His likes are holidays,beer and women but not always in that order. Dislikes are bad driving,bad manners and tofu always in that order.
